I'm nervous about dynamically linking my accounts. Is it safe?

This is a great question, and it is really important to always make sure that any site you use for your finances is completely secure.

We are 100% committed to making sure LearnVest is fully secure, which is why we follow bank-level security procedures. LearnVest is VeriSign, TRUSTe, and McAfee approved (the leaders in online security). Essentially, if you feel comfortable online banking, you can feel comfortable linking your accounts to LearnVest. In addition, while you can see your financial data in the Money Center, neither you (nor anybody else!) can move money between accounts. It is purely an organizational tool--a mirror into your finances. None of your account information actually resides at LearnVest once you enter it--your password, account number, security credentials all remain at your end site institution. No one at LearnVest can access it.

Interestingly, we've had a few users reporting that they discovered credit card fraud through using the Money Center! So, linking your account can actually improve your overall security.

You can read more on our security policies here: http://www.learnvest.com/about/your-security/. At LearnVest, we firmly believe in making sure your financials are safe.

If you still feel uncomfortable linking your accounts dynamically, there's also the option to manually add your accounts. This is a little more of hands-on approach that can require more time and effort, but we have plenty of users who use the Money Center with manually added accounts and find it really increases awareness of their spending and saving habits! If you'd like to manually add your account, check out the how-to guide under our Money Center Maintenance topic.
