How do I connect my accounts?

The more accounts you link, the better picture you'll have of your spending and finances. We recommend starting with your credit cards, checking, and savings account, and then adding your loans, investment, and retirement accounts when you're ready to get a complete picture of your net worth.

To get started, go to the "Accounts" tab in your MoneyCenter and click on the "Connect an Account" link on the upper left hand side.

You'll see some popular institutions, but if you don't find the one you need, just start typing the name of the institution you'd like to connect to and it will show up in your search results below.

Make sure you select the correct listing for the institution you're connecting to (e.g., Bank of America - Credit Card vs. Bank of America - Bank vs. Bank of America - Loan). If you have more than one type of account with the same institution, you'll need to link them separately even if you log in with one username and password on your institution's site. This is to give LearnVest permission to display your financial information for those specific accounts.

Then, enter your login information the same way you would when accessing your account from the institution directly. Please note, LearnVest is backed by bank-level security and does not store any username or password information on our servers. You can read more about our security procedures here.

Keep in mind that for some institutions, you may need to answer additional security questions. In some cases, you'll need to scroll down to see the additional questions asked - Sallie Mae, for example, requires that you enter your birthdate.

Some institutions also require an access code, or will ask you to log in directly from your institution
(e.g., on Navient's website) to accept a set of terms & conditions first. CapitalOne / ING, for example, requires an access code, which you can generate by following these instructions.

Once you've entered your login information, LearnVest will start to establish a connection to your bank. This may take several seconds, but hang tight! Feel free to move on and connect additional accounts while waiting for the ones that take a little longer complete.

If you don't see your institution, you can also add an account balance manually.

Once you've connected your accounts, you'll have a birds-eye view of your finances and be ready to take the next step towards financial health.
